Weeks 12,13,14: Giving Thanks and Vienna

Long time no see! It has been an absolutely hectic month and somehow I find the time to write again right before Christmas? I don't fully understand either. But we can both pretend I'm actually on time.

Part of the reason I was incapacitated in the month of November is because Pokemon Sun and Moon came out, which I've been waiting for for a while. You can imagine I locked myself in a room to play it. I picked Rowlet as my starter because he is the best.

So I'm in Austria, which meant no Thanksgiving for me...right??

WRONG. Of course I had to have a Thanksgiving!! So with the help of two of my fellow Americans, Mike and Hailey, we made Thanksgiving Dinner for 20-30 people. There were a lot people, it was very hard to keep track of all of them.

Americans in their natural habitat: loving mac and cheese.

On the menu was mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, stuffing, garlic bread, corn bread, string beans and turkey with gravy. There was probably more food but there was SO MUCH. Arguably too much. Just kidding that doesn't exist. But it was an excellent night filled with great people and great food so what else could you possibly want?

A few days after that there was Krampuslauf, arguably the scariest thing I've seen here. If you're interested on the full story behind Krampus, read this article!

Also Graz is decorated for Christmas as you can see here!

Here are some pictures I got!

And if you're really lucky and your friends try to push you to the front row, they will get right up in your face and make you consider crying a little bit. Here's a cutie that touched my head:

But the worst part of it was honestly not the masks, as bad as they were, but probably the noises. Most Krampuses had bells or chains, something that made a horrible noise and even if you couldn't see them, you could hear them.

Here, you get some noises and one of them decides to get in my face. Gotta love it.

My favorite thing about that video is the semi nervous giggles because we're all at least a little afraid of these weird demon things.

A few days after that, I went to Vienna with some friends to see Digitalism in concert!
After which, we walked around Vienna and saw the Christmas decorations.

The next day, we went to what was apparently one of the most famous cafes in Europe. And it would be great if I remembered the name....but I completely don't. Either way, it was unexpectedly fancy and absolutely delicious.

After probably the fanciest breakfast I've ever had, we explored Vienna until we almost fell asleep standing up. Tis the season of Christmas markets!!!!! I absolutely wish we had these in the US, but that just means I have to appreciate them to their fullest while I'm here.

and to commemorate my love of Christmas markets, how about this mega touristy picture of me??

and some others I didn't know where to put, but here you go!

and then the next weekend...it was off to Innsbruck. That's currently being written :) see you soon!
